Fast50_smallAllegheny Science & Technology (AST) has been named one of the fastest growing small businesses in the government market, ranked No. 7 on the Washington Technology 2014 Fast 50. Small businesses are ranked by calculating their compound annual growth rate from 2009 to 2013 using prime and subcontracting revenue at the federal, state and local levels.

“We are really proud of what we have been able to accomplish since AST’s inception”, said CEO, Arria Hines. “This is a testament to our people, our clients and partners.” AST provides management and technology solutions for customers such as the Department of Energy, Defense and Homeland Security departments as well as NASA, the FBI and other members of the Intelligence Community – performing work in areas such as project management, financial analysis and systems engineering.

“It takes an entire organization buying in to achieve this rate of growth”, added Bob Wentz, AST chief operating officer. AST continues to build a solid organization, having recently added key hires to deepen its footprint in target markets. AST currently has offices in West Virginia, Maryland, Northern Virginia and Idaho – all of which places the company in close proximity to its core customers. Hines and her team have a strategic plan in place for the next five years, which includes the transition out of the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development program.
