February 17, 2015

Bridgeport, WV – AST CEO, Arria Hines will kick off the Spring 2015 edition of the B&E Distinguished Speaker Series, hosted by the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics, on February 18 at 11:30 a.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms at WVU.

“We are very fortunate to have Arria Hines in our speaker series because our students, University community and business community can learn much from her,” said Jose “Zito” Sartarelli, B&E Milan Puskar Dean. “She has been at the center of incredible growth for Allegheny Science & Technology, and is an incredible West Virginia and national business success story.”

Hines, a B&E Executive MBA graduate, founded AST in 2009, winning her first contract from NASA with just two employees. AST now employs over 75 people and supports nearly a dozen federal agencies including the Department of Energy, FBI, the Defense Intelligence Agency and Department of Homeland Security.

Hines has excelled in an industry traditionally dominated by men, having recently received the Department of Defense’s 2014 Nunn-Perry Award based on AST’s performance as a participant in the Department of Defense (DoD) Mentor-Protege Program (MPP). She contributes this success to AST employees’ unwavering commitment to strong customer relationships, excellent service, and continuous improvement.

Hines lives in Lewis County, West Virginia, with her husband and two children. She enjoys giving back and supporting small businesses in West Virginia. She serves as a director on the Teaming to Win Board, which sponsors an annual small business conference in West Virginia that hosts more than 300 attendees. She serves on the West Virginia University MBA Advisory Board and I-79 Development Council board. Hines was also recently appointed to the West Virginia Governor’s STEM Council.

This is the first of four scheduled events in the B&E Distinguished Speaker Series in the Spring 2015 semester. For further information, please visit be.wvu.edu.
